Global Excel Management was born of necessity in 1996. Its parent company etfs, one of the largest medical travel insurance providers in Canada, needed solutions to their claims exposure in destination areas across the US.
Direct negotiations on large loss claims (out of network) quickly became our strength. Over the years our methods evolved, encompassing direct contracting, live negotiations, clinical case management, PPO management etc.
Our product was a success overseas, where insurers had a similar experience to ours. They offered coverage to travellers into the US and needed solutions for both their claims negotiation and assistance services. We currently have over 300 partners in 36 countries around the world. Domestically, we have over 100 partners in the US.
Global Excel is a privately owned company located in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. With approximately 350 staff, including claims examiners, nurses, Doctors, a legal team, negotiators, network managers and repricers, research and development staff, a multilingual call center, client services team etc.

We feel it is important to give back not only by offering support to our local community, but also to national and international charitable organizations whose missions reflect our values.
Among the organizations we have chosen to support regularly are Health Partners International of Canada (HPIC), Global Aid Network Canada (GAiN), and Operation Christmas Child.
Health Partners International of Canada is a not-for-profit relief and development organization that works with a wide range of partnerships to increase access to medicine and improve health in the developing world. Millions of people around the world suffer and die unnecessarily from preventable and treatable illnesses due to a lack of treatment. HPIC allows donors to order the gift of medicine – antibiotics, hospital supplies, pain relief and more – for those who cannot afford it. Our company and our employees have been supporting the work of HPIC for several years because the difference we can make is tangible, personal and life-changing.
The Global Aid Network Canada (GAiN) is a worldwide humanitarian relief and development organization dedicated to bringing hope and tangible help to the poor and the suffering. With past experience in walking into truly devastating situations, such as the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, GAiN has the ability to find concrete ways to deliver aid and relief where it is most needed. Since its beginning in 1998, GAiN Canada has mobilized resources to help people in over 35 countries around the world, including Water for Life, humanitarian aid, support for children, disaster response, and development.
Operation Christmas Child, organized every holiday season by Samaritan’s Purse Canada, is one of our employees’ favourite opportunities to give back, especially during the hectic holiday season. The campaign makes it possible for a less fortunate child in a developing nation to receive a gift at Christmas. Employees and their families package thoughtful and practical gifts, such as small toys, school supplies and personal care items, into boxes for boys and girls in a dozen countries around the developing world.
